Regulations
  • Permits are required for ALL visitors.
  • Maximum Group size is 12 (combined people and stock) wilderness-wild, except for the Enchantment Permit Area where it is 8.
  • Shortcutting trail switchbacks is prohibited.
  • Caching or leaving equipment for more than 48 hours is prohibited.
  • Protect water quality by keeping all contaminants away.
  • Leash dogs on all trails off of I-90 and Highway 2 west of Steven's Pass.
    Exceptions: Stock users traveling the Pacific Crest Trail north from Snoqualmie Pass and visitors on the Tunnel Creek Trail may travel with dogs under reliable voice control.
  • Dogs are prohibited in the Enchantments Permit Area and Ingalls Lake.
  • Damagin natural features, including trees, snags, or rocks is prohibited.
  • Pack it in, pack it out.
  • People who wish to guide a trip to the Wilderness should check with a ranger stating regarding a special use permit.
Camping Restrictions
  • Campfires are prohibited above 4,000 feet on the west side of the Cascade crest and above 5,000 feet east of the crest. Campfires are prohibited within 1/2 mile of the following additional locations below these elevations:

Ollalie Lake Lake Dorothy Surprise Lake
Trout Lake Deep Lake Rebecca Lake
Rachel Lake Shovel Lake Upper Park Lake

Stock Restrictions
  • Contain sock at least 200 feet from lakes. If hobbled, stock can be tied to trees larger then 6 inches in diameter for up to 4 hours. When using highlines, hobble stock standing within 8 feet of trees. Use only processed stock feed.
  • Stock users camping within 1/2 mile of the following locations must stay at designated camps (marked by the horseshoe symbol):

Pete Lake Squaw Lake Upper Park Lake
Waptus Lake Doelle Lakes Flora & Brigham Lakes
Frosty Pass Ingalls Creek Trail Meadow Camp

  • Travel with pack and saddle stock (including llamas and goats) is prohibited on the following wilderness trails:
West of Cascade Crest:
All trails except the Pacific Crest Trail #2000, Deception Creek Trail #1059, Deception Lales Trail#1063, Lake Clarice Trail #1066.
LLamas and goats are permitted on all trails on the North Bend Ranger District.
East of Cascade Crest:
Chiwaukum Creek Trail #1591 above Glacier Creek jct
Ethel Lake Trail #1585
Gold Creek Trail #1314
Grace Lakes Trail #1578
Ingalls Way Trail #1390.1
