July 3, 2000

The trail crosses a small creek, enters the woods and with little elevation gain reaches Twin Lakes in about 0.7 mile. Not far from the lower lake the trail meets with Mt. Catherine Trail #1348 which goes to the right. There are also several campsites near the junction. The lake is shallow with marshy shores . After crossing the creek trail steeply climbs in switchbacks, and in about 1.8 mile reaches PCT #2000. Coming closer to the PCT the trail is still covered with snow.

Loop is possible by hiking 3 miles on PCT to junction with Road 9070, and returning to Twin Lakes by Mt. Catherine Trail. This will be about 7.5 total miles and 4 - 5 hours all together. At the junction of Cold Creek Trail and PCT turn right (north). In one mile the trail meets with Silver Peak Trail which goes to the left. The first 1.5 mile there is still a lot of snow on the trail. The trail gradually descends through the woods and in 1.5 mile reaches Road 9070. Turn right onto the road and follow it for about 0.3 mile to Mt. Catherine Trail #1348 which goes to the right. There is no sign indicating this trail, so look for stone cairn on the side of the road. The trail steeply descends for about 0.8 mile to the road, crosses it, evens up and in 0.2 mile reaches Cold Creek Trail.
