The
trail follows an old logging road, ascending gradually for about
0.8 mile and then descending for about 0.7 mile to a Y junction.
There is a sign indicating the junction, but it sits deep in the
bushes and is hard to see. Take the left fork (road #2710011). Gradually
climbing through the woods for about 1.5 mile, the trail leads to
a nice campsite. The "road" continues for another 0.3 mile before
entering the forest. This part of the trail is quite muddy. The
trail gets steep for about 0.2 mile, then evens up and with little
elevation gain continues through the woods for another 0.5 mile,
crosses Glacier Peak Wilderness boundary and reaches the lake. There
is a creek crossing right before the lake. The water can be high,
but a big fallen tree makes it very easy to cross. In late July
there still was snow at the lake, but the campsites were snow-free.
The lake is very pretty and worth the effort. Thanks to Alix
Zastoupil contribution here are pictures of the lake
