The
trail gradually ascends through trees, follows the creek and offers
very limited views. In about 1.2 miles it crosses a wooden bridge
and in another 0.1 mile reaches June Lake. The lake is small and
shallow; the bottom is almost completely covered with pondweed .
Basalt Cliff (a steep grown with trees) rises over the east side
of the lake. It has a nice waterfall which completes the perfect
picture .
There are several campsites on the west shore which is bordered
by a lava flow. From the lake the trail climbs quite steeply for
0.25 mile to the junction with Loowit Trail 216.
