Follow Pratt Lake Trail #1007 for about 6 miles, then Melakwa Lake Trail #1011 for 0.5 mile to the trailhead at Lower Tuscohatchie Lake.

Trail starts at the junction with Melakwa Lake Trail #1011 on the north-west shore of Lower Tuscohatchie Lake . Right on the trailhead there is a blow-down that is difficult to cross. For the first 0.7 mile trail gradually descends through the forest to Pratt River. There are lots of blow-downs on this part of the trail, some of them are difficult to cross. One can use a log to cross the river, but it is quite difficult and dangerous to do that, it is easier to make your way across on the stones a little up the river. After river crossing trail starts climbing steeply (about 1700 ft) in switchbacks for about 1.5 mile through the old grown forest and then descends for about 0.7 mile to Windy Lake . Here it crosses the creek and leads to several campsites. From Windy Lake trail gradually descends for another 0.7 mile to Kaleetan Lake. There is just one snow patch on this part of the trail. There are two nice campsites with impressive view of Kaleetan Peak near the lake .

Pass Kaleetan Creek crossing an old trail used to continue further. Ascending on Mount Roosevelt southwest slope it led to the ridge near the summit, where it met with Mount Roosevelt Trail. This trail is not maintained.
