This
short, informative, and accessible gravel trail is a great hike
for families with children and anyone who is interested in the history
and science of the eruption of Mount St. Helens. Leading to Muddy
River Lahar viewpoint, the trail goes through a beautiful meadow
blooming with wild flowers .
A great view opens on Mount St. Helens. You can also see the Shoestring
Glacier (the 20 feet of thickness of which has melted during the
eruption), as well as Lahar (a river of mud, ash and water with
a consistency of wet cement) Valley .
