Make sure you have enough water with you before you head for the
trail. The trail starts climbing gradually, in about 0.4 mile crosses
and old road, and continues further going through the woods for
about 0.2 mile until it reaches Iron Goat Trail. Turn right onto
Iron Goat Trail and follow it for about 0.4 mile. At this point
McClellan Butte Trail turns left, enters the woods and continues
climbing to Road 9020 for about 0.5 mile. After road crossing the
trail gets steeper and switchbacks through the woods for about 3
miles to the meadows. After reaching the meadows the trail evens
up and in 0.5 mile descends to a little lake. There is still some
snow near the lake. The trail continues gradually climbing to the
ridge for about 0.5 mile. There is a chance to see some wildlife
on this trail .
The last 300 feet to the summit are very steep .
Please exercise caution if you decide to proceed. A good view of
the surrounding mountains and the valley opens up from the top .
