Water
is available only at the first part of the trail, there is no water
source at the upper part of the trail. First 0.2 mile trail goes
through the forest with little elevation gain. After crossing the
road trail gets steeper and climbs for about 0.8 mile to Road 9070.
The trail is brushy at places. Turn left onto road 9070, follow
it for about 200 feet and turn right onto steep rocky road. In about
0.2 mile the road ends. The trail enters the woods and steeply climbs
for about 0.6 mile up to the ridge. For some time trail evens up,
but soon starts climbing again and in about 0.7 mile reaches the
summit. Remains of the navigational light beacon that was installed
there back in 1930s can be seen on the mountaintop. Good view opens
from the top on Silver Peak
,
Tinkham Peak, Keechelus Lake .
This trail is also accessible from another location: drive for 4.4
miles on Road 9070 to the turn onto steep rocky road on the right.
Parking spot is available there on the left side of the Road 9070.
