Take
Deception Pass Trail 1376
and follow it for 4.7 miles to the junction with Robin Lakes Trail
1376.1.
From
the junction Robin Lakes Trail heads east. It passes a campsite,
crosses a small creek and starts its steep climb up the rocky slope.
The trail is very eroded. After one mile of very steep climbing the
trail gets a little easier as it continues in short switchbacks
for about 0.4 mile to the ridge overlooking Tuck Lake. A good view
of the Cathedral Rock
and Daniel Mountain
open from here.
A
short 0.1 mile descend brings you to Tuck Lake. The lake is very
pretty with a small rocky island and steep granite shores. Access
to the water is quite limited. There are several small campsites
on the west shore along the trail. To follow the trail, stay on
the east side of the ridge (shore side). The path goes over granite
boulders and in 0.1 mile reaches the creek. Cross the creek over
the logs between Tuck Lake and Tucks Pot. From here the path starts
a steep climb. The trail is marked with stone cairns. Even
if you didn't see cairns, simply follow the ridge over the lake,
heading southeast. Soon you'll be able to see the trail. In about
0.7 mile the trail evens up a little, turns east (left). It makes
a short steep descend, providing good view of Tuck Lake ,
and starts ascending up the gully. In about 0.1 mile it evens up
for a short time.
Look for a granite cirque, don't go straight, but turn left and
climb up the middle of the cirque following the cairns. In 0.5 mile
the trail reaches a ridge overlooking Robin Lakes. A short, 0.1
mile descend leads to Lower Robin Lake .
There are several campsites along the north shore. This beautiful
area is well worth your effort - crystal clear waters surrounded
by the granite shores. From the lower lake a short trail leads to
the Upper Robin Lake ,
that is about twice as bigger in its size. There are several campsites
on the northwest shore. Granite
Mountain raises high above the southeast side.
Campfires
are prohibited within 0.25 mile of Tuck Lake and above 5000 feet.
Please remember to camp away from the lake shores.
