Gradually climbing on the open slope the trail leads to a lookout . The lookout was build 70 years ago. This is the only one in the Cle Elum Ranger District that is still in use - Forest Service fire fighters are on duty here during the summer months. The lookout offers a very good view of the Mount Rainier, Kachess Lake, Thorp Lake , Chimney Rock , and Mineral Creek valley.
